Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up waste products in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, releases waste products from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly.

Thai Massage is an ancient system of holistic  health that draws from both the Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This is a newer modality that is rapidly gaining popularity in the West.

Thai Massage can be performed fully clothed on the floor with a mat, or fully clothed on a massage table. It is called “lazy man’s yoga,” because the recipient is passively guided though various yoga poses. Unlike regular Swedish massage, Thai massage stretches out all parts of the body, for example, the chest and the hips.

The Thai pregnancy massage ususally starts in a side-lying position, with the arms, legs, and head propped up with pillows and bolsters. Thai pregnancy massage uses a combination of very gentle stretching and acupressure. There is also a supported reclining position, where hand and foot reflexology, are used to reduce swelling in the feet and hands. What could be better than after a busy day at work and the long trek home, than a paraffin hand dip followed by a soothing and relaxing hot oil massage?

First, you submerge your hands into melted paraffin wax until they are coated. Then, your hands are placed in plastic bags and warm towels or mitts while you relax. The warm paraffin sucks all the cold out of your hands, relaxes the muscles, and eases joint pain. When the paraffin is pulled off, you will find the skin has been hydrated and conditioned. It’s like having brand new hands!
